When Jose was 4 years old he went with his mum to a big canteen in Peru. While he was playing with his toys, he entered the kitchen and fell into a pot of hot soup standing on the ground; 55% of his skin suffered from severe burns. A few month afterwords, his mum left the family to live with her new husband. Despite his difficult situation, Jose is an active and open minded child, but he urgently needs his burn treatments to ensure his integral rehabilitation and to give him a new perspective.
In our rehabilitation center in Peru, we receive on average one new patient that has suffered severe burns every day. 70% of these accidents happen due to hot liquids and they mostly affect children younger than 6 years old. Jose came to us when he was 4 years old as he suffered from severe burns. He needs an integral rehabilitation to improve his flexibility, the appearance of his scars and to make sure that he is not going to suffer form any psychological problems.
With your donation we can finance the necessary rehabilitation for Jose including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, compressive garments, hydrotherapy and especially the psychological treatment to handle the trauma of the accident and not being with his mum right now. With the integral rehabilitation we can assure his reintegration into the society, give the little Jose a new perspective and this way substantially improve his quality of life.
Through one year of integral rehabilitation these 7 burned children will not only get the necessary medical treatment but will also learn how to live with their external and internal scars. Our ultimate goal is to improve their life quality, so that the kids are able to live a normal life again and convert them and their families into prevention ambassadors in their community. Together with the distribution of prevention messages they can help us to decrease the number of burn accidents in Peru.
