Donations to the Giving Heroes Fund will be allocated among inspiring nonprofit organizations that were nominated by Microsoft employees in honor of #GivingTuesday. Microsoft's YouthSpark programs focus on youth ages 6-24 and provide valuable support in the areas of job training & preparedness, continuing education, and/or entrepreneurship.
Today's young people face an opportunity divide - a gap between those who have the access, skills and opportunities to be successful and those who do not. Closing this opportunity divide is one of the most important actions we can all take to secure the future of our youth and the future of our global economy.
The program empowers youth to imagine and realize their full potential by connecting them with greater opportunities for education, employment and entrepreneurship, helping them create a real impact for a better tomorrow.
YouthSpark is a global initiative which aims to create opportunities for 300 million youth in more than 100 countries by 2015.

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.
We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.
They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
